This year saw another packed head race season for crews across Cantabs, both on the Cam and further afield!

At Head of the Trent on the 22nd February, two Cantabs crews made the trip to Nottingham to race clubs from across the country over the 5.6k course. Cantabs had a successful day out, coming away with a win in the Op.Int8+ along with 5th place in the W.Dev8+.
On International Women’s Day on the 8th March, four Cantabs crews raced on the Tideway at The Women’s Eights Head of the River Race. For a number of Cantabs members this was their first experience of racing on the unpredictable 6.8km course, and the crews gained valuable experience to take forward into the rest of the season.

Sunday the 16th March saw the final leg of the 2025 CRA Winter League take place on the Cam. Pots were awarded to crews with the fastest cumulative time across all three legs, and Cantabs brought back wins in events including the W.Champ 8+, O.MasA-C 8+, W.Club B 4+, O.J18 4x and the Mx.Mas F-G 8+.
Two crews from the Senior Men’s squad took to the Tideway for the annual Head of the River Race on the 22nd March. Both crews put down strong performances to finish off a block of winter training, with Cantabs A finishing 86th (15th in the Jackson Trophy for provincial clubs), and Cantabs B finishing 192nd overall.

On the following day it was the turn of five masters crews to race at the Vesta International Masters Head of the River Race. Results included 8th in the MasAB.8+ (41st overall), 10th in the W.MasD.8+ (composite with X-Press Boat Club), 11th in the W.MasE.8+ (composite with Champs) and 16th in the MasD.8+. A Mx.Masters.4x- crew also raced, but the race was unfortunately abandoned while the crew were on the course.
Two junior Cantabs crews raced at The Schools’ Head of the River on the 25th March to finish out the head race season, finishing 18th in the Sch 1st 8+ and 18th in the Sch/Jun 2nd 8+.
Regatta season is now just around the corner, and we look forward to seeing even more success for our crews!
